What do megastars Steven Spielberg, Oprah Winfrey and Jennifer Aniston have in common? They're all flipping out over Pure Digital's Flip camera! Other Flip fanatics include Rosie O'Donnell, Pamela Anderson and the Barack Obama campaign...

It's not just celebrities who are flipping over the Flip... Rave reviews have come in from all corners of the media world, from Time magazine, ABC News and Extra TV to the Wall Street Journal, CNN and USA Today.

With product evangelists like that, perhaps it's no surprise that Pure Digital just sold their one millionth Flip Video Camcorder! The Flip has been the number one best-selling video camera on Amazon since its launch, and the camera's popularity shows no signs of abating.

In fact, Flip just released their newest and slimmest model yet, the Flip Mino. (pronounced "minnow"). The Flip cam has made shooting and uploading videos easier than ever. They have simplified the world of online video and leveled the playing field so that anyone can play!

Shooting videos with the Flip couldn't be easier, and the camera's simple interface makes recording a breeze. Just point, press record and shoot! When you're done, "flip" open the Flip's USB port, plug it into your computer and upload video instantly to the web. The Flip's built-in software even gives you the option to quickly and easily upload your video directly to YouTube, AOL Video and - with the new Flip Mino, you can upload right to MySpace, too!

It's convenient, easy to use and affordable. No wonder consumers and the media alike are gushing over the Flip...

In July, 2008, for example, the Flip won Business Week's IDEA (International Design Excellence Awards) Gold honors in the entertainment category. Business Week raved:

"This is the first camcorder to simplify the process of capturing and sharing video. With integrated software, the Ultra enables editing, organizing and seamless uploading to AOL, YouTube and other video sharing sites. Challenged to develop a product that communicates this simplicity in a fun and user friendly manner, the design team focused on the form factor, ergonomics and control layout. The result is a highly-compact camera that can fit in any pocket and provide unmatched portability and intuitive use for capturing, editing and sharing high-quality video."

The Flip was also high on the list of TIME magazine's "25 Gotta Have Travel Gadgets," calling the minicam "so easy a technophobic wife can use it." Here's what TIME had to say about the new Flip Mino model:

"Finally, a video camera so easy, a technophobic wife can use it. That's precisely the point of Flip's Mino, a cigarette-pack sized video recorder that's basically built around a big, fat, red RECORD button: Better to have a cute video camera that you'll toss into your pocketbook and use, instead of a big, complicated beast that stays home. Two gigabytes of internal memory provide 60 minutes of record time. A rechargeable battery lasts around four hours and a USB plug built onto the device lets you plug it in to a PC or Mac and automatically upload your riveting movies of Grandpa Ernie standing in front of a restaurant on the Left Bank to Myspace, YouTube or AOL."

And U.S. News & World Report claimed that no video camera is easier to use than the Flip. The magazine's David LaGesse gushes: "The Flip has made its mark with its ease of use. I know from experience that a 6-year-old can handle it. Push the red button to record; push it again to stop. Hit the play button to review clips. Plug the built-in USB connector into a PC, and a few mouse clicks later you have video online."

So what are you waiting for? Whether you go for the new $180 (USD) Mino, or the earlier and less-expensive $130 - $150 Ultra, you gotta get a Flip!

Video recording technology has come a long way in a short time. A very few years ago, it was torture to lug around a huge video camera for every important event. And you only used it for important events because it was too much to carry otherwise.

One of the best, most portable of all video recording devices is the Kodak Zi8 pocket camcorder. Don't let its small size fool you. It is loaded with features including HD technology as well as a handy little way to record everywhere you go.

At a recent Hollywood conference a leading studio head said that the power in Hollywood is shifting from the producers to the creatives. What he meant by that was after nearly a century of monopolizing the production and distribution of film and video content the Internet has now made it possible for anyone who has the interest, drive, and creativity to become famous, make money, and be discovered in ways totally unforeseen a short time ago.

With the video content explosion on the Internet many backyard producers are becoming famous in their own world of online fans and viewers. You can be one of them!

There are many sites on the Internet that specialize in exposing your work to the world. Obviously the main one is YouTube. Here, in addition to uploading your "productions", you can form your own channels so people can see all your work in one spot. YouTube can be limiting in the length of your videos so check out the many other sites including Metacafe, Viemo, if you want to submit longer productions.

Most people are amazed that you can produce your own HD videos, beautifully edited, for about $200. Assuming your have a computer, simply get Adobe Premiere Elements, (about $100), and Kodak's Zi6 mini HD camcorder, (runs off regular batteries, also about $100). That is all the equipment you'll need!

You will need to have the following positions covered for your production, no matter how big or small.

Producer. This is the person that organizes all elements of the film. They are normally involved in raising the money necessary, hiring the director, purchasing the script or screenplay, hiring the actors, picking the set or screen stage, and dealing with the business aspects of the production.

Director. This person interprets the script onto the screen. That is why this person plays such an important role in the productions success. They decide the camera angle, how the actors relate to each other, and in general make their vision of the production come alive on the screen. In most small productions the director will also be the cameraman.

Actors. Well, we know what these people are suppose to do.

Many times one or two people do all of the above. Certainly in small web productions a person normally starts out being at least the producer and director, and, many times the actor also. The main point is make sure you have all three functions covered. Now it's on to what you are going to produce.

In general all productions fall into one of two categories; scripted and unscripted. Scripted are all productions where the actors follow - a script! Of course, these require actors to learn their lines and follow the screenplay. Unscripted are best exemplified by the "reality shows" currently so popular. Here there is no script, and all the expense and time associated with it. Most likely you are going to start with an unscripted production because it is simply easier and costs a lot less.

Once you have made your decision on what to produce there are two main schools of thought about how to go about it. The first one is that you should focus solely on producing top quality content. This means spending endless hours planning each element of your production. The second school of thought is to just pour as much content as you possibly can out onto the Internet and hope that one will be a hit. Either way you choose is fine. I would recommend doing the one that best fits your personality. If you are more of a perfectionist then obviously you are more suited to the first type of production.

Once your production is done and ready for upload don't forget the details like proper key wording, titles, and credits. Obviously if you are going to be building your reputation as a producer of on line video you will have to be consistent in your uploads. Try and stick to a production schedule so your viewers will can get used to seeing your new productions on a timely basis. As you start to see results of your uploads through the number of views they are getting you will be able to adjust your productions in the direction of the more popular posts.

The Hollywood mogul may be fading into history, but film making and video production has never been easier, and who knows - you may just be a natural.

In recent times, there has been a big spurt in the digital video camera market. With the Flip video camera series being launched, it has become even more exciting, particularly because of its amazingly low price.

The Flip Video camera from Pure Digital is a compact video recorder that fits into your pocket. The recorded video clips are stored in the camera’s hard drive and these can be either viewed on a computer or on TV screen. It has a convenient USB that flips out from the side via which you can plug it into your PC or Mac. Video clips are saved as .avi files.

In the Flip camcorder range are the Flip Ultra and the Flip Mino HD. The Flip Ultra camera shoots 4:3 video while the Mino shoots 16:9. If you are wondering which Flip digital camera to buy, it makes sense to browse through Flip camera review sites to help you make an informed decision.

One of the reasons that lead to the success of Flip digital cameras is the fact that people use online video services like YouTube a lot. This camera is so easy to use that people don’t really notice any shortcomings. The Flip Mino came after the Ultra and if you do a comparison of the two, the Mino is about 40% smaller and lighter than the Ultra and has a touch sensitive control pad, a rechargeable built-in battery and a codec for Mac users enabling them to use iMovie 08 and edit their videos directly. The Flip Mino is preloaded with the software it needs for video sharing. While the Flip Ultra has the USB connector at the side, the Mino has it on top and you can use it to download your videos as well as to charge the camera.

The Mino also has a faster image processor, an omni-directional mic, pause, review and fast forward button. It is capable of uploading movies to MySpace.

If we explore the Flip Mino Vs Ultra, according to online reviews the Flip Mino scores over the Ultra in many ways. For example, in terms of design and interface, people prefer the Mino for its smaller size, sleeker look, touch sensitive controls and better playback options. Specifications wise, even though both Flip camcorders are similar, the Mino scores for its superior sound and compression and additional uploading option. But for video quality, it is the Ultra that is ahead for its consistently brighter videos and better exposure especially in low light situations.

One of the reasons that lead to the success of Flip digital cameras is the fact that people use online video services like YouTube a lot. To some, the Mino might look better, but if video quality is important, then it is the Ultra that has an edge. Cost wise, the Mino costs more and is better designed with a rechargeable battery while the Ultra works with replaceable AA batteries. However, when it comes to the Flip Ultra vs. Mino, it really is a matter of what you want to do with the camera and the features that matter to you the most. Therefore, it is best to check out as many online reviews as possible since you can read a lot more than just the product specifications. Diverse user experiences described in Flip video camera review can finally be the deciding factor when you buy your own Flip digital camera.
